Pretty Pastel Jars

Hello Friends I have been collecting a lot of jars lately. Every time I would finish something in a jar I thought oh I will just keep and do something with it later. I had several of these beet jars piling up. So I wanted to make a little row of pastel coloured jars for my shelves. This is what they looked like before I upcycled them. Excuse the picture it was taken late last night. I remembered to take it while I was soaking them to take the labels off.   I picked really light pastel colours they look almost like milk paint, which I love the look of. Once the jars were dried off I poured acrylic paint in to each one. Then turned them upside down and let the paint run out. While that was going on I cut strips of 2 inch light weight card to create labels.  I painted them the same colours.  Next I painted the lids with 2 coats of white paint. Then once they were dry I painted a circle of colour on each one.  I then took my stamps

Everything Resides In Hope

Happy Friday Friends I hope you are all well :)  I made this quick card for  Friends With Flair today.  Don't you love those butterflies?? As you know I am addicted to butterflies. This is one of my newest stamps to add to that collection. I used my watercolour paints to colour them shades of pink and purple. The stamp set is from Unity of course it is called Everything Resides In Hope . I kept the card really simple as I think those butterflies speak for themselves. Have a great weekend! Beautiful Soul

Hello Friends I hope you are all having a great week :) I got this stamp in the mail yesterday and I just had to make something with her. How lovely is she??  I actually just bought it for the sentiment and I really was not to sure about the actual girl stamp. But after stamping away I JUST LOVE HER. I totally went rock chick on her and gave her a tattoo and a lovely silver heart necklace ha. Which is really an extension chain that I cut down and glued on. I have some left over from my jewellery making days. The colour scheme I used is from this months  Be Inspired Challenge over at Unity.  I basically stamped her and heat embossed her with black embossing powder. Then used my watercolour paints and coloured her. The background was made separately with my distress inks and water. I stamped the sentiment with VersaFine ink and then cut out and glued the girl to the background. I hope you like my beautiful soul rock chick. Thanks so much for stopping by Ma

Begin Each Day

Hello Friends I have spent today cleaning out my crafts and organizing my stamps. I came across this stamp of the girl with the heart shaped hands. I love her and totally forgot I had her.  So I just had to make another emboss resist card. This is so easy I just stamped my images and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I heat set them then go out my distress inks and coloured away.  I trimmed the card down and added it to a white card base and trimmed it with some sequins. How easy is that? Ok now I need to get back to my cleaning until I find another stamp I forgot I had. Have a great day thanks for stopping by. Mandi xox Stamps - Unity Stamp Company, Strength & Dignity KOTM. Dream Feather

Hello Friends I wanted to make another quick embossing resist project for the Make It, Take It Challenge over at the Craft Stamper blog. I went with another tag for this one. The colours were inspired by the flowers in my yard. Purple and hot pink what a great combination. I heat embossed the sentiment and image with white embossing powder. Next I used two distress inks. I swiped them on to my craft mat and spritzed them with water then just let the tag pick up the colours. I coloured some ribbon with the same inks to match the tag.  I absolutely love working with distress inks the colours stay so vibrant and you never get the outcome twice. Soft Flower

Hello Friends I got some new stamps a few weeks ago and have not yet inked them up. So I decided to break them out today. I absolutely love this flower stamp. It is called Donna Poppy Bkgrnd . It actually has 3 big flowers on it but I masked two of them off as I just wanted this single flower on my tag. I used the embossing resist technique on this tag. I stamped the image and sentiment with VersaMark Ink. Then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. Next with a small brush I applied distress inks mixed with water to colour it. I love how the water reacts with the ink you always get a surprise background as it never dries the same way twice. While the tag was drying I coloured some crinkle ribbon pink using the same Spun Sugar Distress Ink I used on the flower. Finally I added some pink rhinestones and tied the ribbon to finish . I love the way this tag came out the colours are so soft. I think it is one of my favourites.  Thanks so much for v

Anne Shirley - Tomorrow

Hello Friends I hope you are all having a good week. I wanted to make something for this month's Craft Stamper Take It, Make It Challenge . This month you have to use the embossing resist technique. If you know me you know I LOVE to emboss. So much so that I had to go and get a new heat tool this week. My old one was dying!!  Anyway on to my card. I absolutely LOVE Anne of Green Gables. I still have the DVDs and all the books I was gifted many years ago. I have yet to make my trip to Prince Edward Island but it is on my list to do so. I picked up this book at the dollar store month's ago. I wanted to use it more for quotes for my cards. But then I got the idea to rip out a page and actually stamp on it. I first stuck the page to a piece of card then very lightly went over it with gesso. I then stamped my images and heat embossed them with white and silver embossing powder.  I would usually wipe the excess embossing powder away with a small brush. But I wa

Flag Tag

Hello Friends I wanted to take part in the Unity red white and blue challenge on facebook. So this is what I came up with I will call it the flag tag.  As an immigrant  and a naturalized citizen. I had to do a lot of reading about the history of America for my citizenship test. I guess this is my interpretation about what America means to me.  I used the colours and the stars from the flag. The butterfly represents freedom and the sentiment represents  one nation under God. I used distress inks to create my background on a kraft tag. I really love to get messy using these inks. I still have rainbow fingers lots of ink that won't come off  ha. I stamped them on to my craft mat and spritzed some water and let the ink do it's thing. I heat set the ink then applied some more until I was happy with the outcome. I stamped the butterfly on to vellum I used white embossing powder and heat set it. I did the same thing with the sentiment. I did not have any star stamps so
